Abstract:
BEL-2_NV is a very young family of BEL LTR retrotransposons. BEL-2-I_NV is an internal portion of BEL-2_NV and it encodes the BEL-1_NVp polyprotein composed of the protease, reverse transcriptase, RNase H, and integrase domains. It is flanked by 100% identical BEL-2-LTR_NV LTRs. BEL-2_NV is characterized by 4-bp target-site duplications.
