Abstract:
Potentially still active recently class 1 endogenous retrovirus; there are over 100 full-length copies in the genome which are >99% similar to this consensus. Average similarity of copies used in reconstruction, to this consensus, is 99.3%. The corresponding 968 bp LTR is deposited as ERV2_MD_LTR. The sequence has two ORFs. The first shows similarity to murine leukemia virus gag-pol; while the second encodes putative integrase, reverse transcriptase, and retroviral aspartyl protease domains. This consensus was reconstructed from the June 2005 release of the 6.8X WGS sequence.
