Abstract:
This appears to be a relatively young class 2 ERV that was active fairly recently; there are several complete copies that are highly similar (>98%) to the consensus. The ORFs are largely intact, but there are frameshifts in the consensus. The corresponding LTR is deposited as ERV23_MD_LTR. This consensus was reconstructed from the June 2005 release of the 6.8X WGS sequence.
