Title:
SINE-1_MD, a potentially RTE-mobilized SINE from the opossum M. domestica.
Journal:
Repbase Reports 5(10), 334-334 (2005)
Abstract:
This SINE shares similarity over the first ~130 bp with MAR1_MD, but is clearly a distinct family. It lacks the poly-A tails and 16-17 bp TSDs of MAR1_MD. Based on shared age distributions, similar distribution of target site duplication lengths, and sequence similarity, SINE-1_MD may have been mobilized by an RTE-like non-LTR retrotransposon. The most likely candidate for the autonomous element is RTE-3_MD. This consensus was reconstructed from the June 2005 release of the 6.8X WGS sequence.
