Abstract:
GYPSY34_AG is a family of gypsy-like LTR retrotransposons that, according to the aminoacid sequence of its Reverse Transcriptase, RNase and Integrase is phylogenetically grouped with representatives of the MDG3 lineage of other organisms. GYPSY29_AG, GYPSY30_AG, GYPSY31_AG, GYPSY32_AG, GYPSY33_AG, GYPSY35_AG, GYPSY36_AG, GYPSY37_AG and GYPSY38_AG are other members of this same lineage in Anopheles gambiae. The GYPSY34-I_AG consensus was reconstructed after multiple alignment of 4 copies. The consensus encodes the 1428-aa GYPSY34_AGp gag-pol like poliprotein (pos. 119-4402). The sequence of the LTRs flanking GYPSY34-I_AG is deposited as GYPSY34-LTR_AG.
