Repbase Reports 4:(1) p. 1 (2004)
Abstract:
GYPSY18_AG is a family of gypsy-like LTR retrotransposons that, according to the aminoacid sequence of its reverse transcriptase, is phylogenetically grouped with representatives of the mag lineage of other organisms. GYPSY19_AG, GYPSY20_AG, GYPSY21_AG, GYPSY22_AG, GYPSY23_AG, GYPSY24_AG, GYPSY25_AG, GYPSY26_AG, GYPSY27_AG and GYPSY28_AG are other members of this same lineage in Anopheles gambiae. The GYPSY18-I_AG consensus was reconstructed after multiple alignment of 5 copies. The consensus encodes the 1410-aa GYPSY18_AGp gag-pol like protein (pos. 80-4309). The sequence of the LTRs flanking GYPSY18-I is deposited as GYPSY18-LTR_AG.
