Title: COPIA3_AG, a family of nonautonomous, copia-like LTR retrotransposons from African malaria mosquito. |

Abstract: COPIA3_AG is a young family of copia-like LTR retrotransposons. COPIA3-I_AG, an internal portion of COPIA3_AG is flanked by 99-100% identical COPIA3-LTR_AG LTRs. The A. gambiae genome contains about 14, >98% identical, copies of COPIA3-AG internal sequence. The consensus sequence encodes the 500-aa COPIA3_AGp protein (positions 41-1540). The protein seems to be truncated, so the COPIA3_AG family is probably nonautonomous.
