Abstract:
GYPSY9_I is an internal portion of the GYPSY9 endogenous retrovirus. Its long terminal repeat is listed in Repbase as GYPSY9_LTR. GYPSY9_I is flanked by 6% divergent LTRs. Therefore, the age of GYPSY9 can be estimated as ~4 million years old. The internal sequence is incomplete because of multiple deletions.
