Title:
Putative retrovirus related to Chromovirus-type Gypsy LTR retrotransposon from the acorn worm.
Journal:
Repbase Reports 12(10), 2212-2212 (2012)
Abstract:
This sequence shares many characteristics of Chromoviruses, one large group of Gypsy LTR retrotransposons, especially the presence of chromodomain at the C-terminus. In addition to characteristics of Chromoviruses, it encodes additional protein that is related to envelope protein of invertebrate herpesviruses, insect baculoviruses, and insect errantiviruses (another large group of Gypsy LTR retrotransposons distantly related to Chromoviruses). This is the first example of Chromovirus encoding an envelope gene. This sequence was derived from sequence data generated by Human Genome Sequencing Center at Baylor College of Medicine: the acorn worm genome.
