Abstract: The genome contains several proviral copies of Copia-2_FCy that are >98% identical to the consensus sequence. Copia-2_FCy is characterized by 6-bp TSDs. A 5'-terminus of its internal portion is not complementary to known tRNAs, and it does not form a self-priming palindrome. This family belongs to an ancient group of copia LTR retrotransposons, which includes also Copia6_TP, Copia7_TP and Copia8_TP. The consensus sequence was derived from sequence data produced by the US Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute http://www.jgi.doe.gov/ in collaboration with the user community.
