Title:
Very young Alu family from Gibbon.
Journal:
Repbase Reports 8(12), 2248-2248 (2008)
Abstract:
This Alu subfamily is present is several thousand copies in the gibbon genome 98-99% identical to consensus. It differs at 2 CpG positions T(133) and T/C(226) from the AluYd3a1 present in the human genome. Based on position 226, there are at least 2 subfamilies: one with T(226) and the second one wit C(226). There is no evidence that variations at T/C(226) are due to CpG decay.
