Title:
ERV5a_MD, a class 2 ERV that may have derived from an RNA recombination event in the opossum M. domestica.

Abstract:
Copies of this consensus are around 95% similar to it, indicating that this is another element that may have been active relatively recently. The internal sequence is highly similar across several kb to ERV5_MD_I, indicating a possible RNA recombination event. However the LTRs are completely different, and this sequence has a 6 bp TSD. The corresponding LTR is deposited as ERV5a_MD_LTR. This consensus was reconstructed from the June 2005 release of the 6.8X WGS sequence.
