Abstract: The L1-5_CR elements are flanked by 5-10-bp target site duplications. There are several hundred copies of L1-5_CR present in the genome. They are massively truncated at 5'. Many elements are just 20-50 bp long 3' terminal portions. The consensus is not complete at its 5' end.
