Abstract:
Copies of this consensus average 96-97% similarity to it, indicating that the element was active relative recently. There are four long overlapping ORFs putatively encoding typical endogenous retroviral proteins including reverse transcriptase and integrase. The corresponding LTR is deposited as ERV4_MD_LTR. This consensus was reconstructed from the June 2005 release of the 6.8X WGS sequence.
