Abstract:
RandI-2 is a family of RandI non-LTR retrotransposons. The 5'-terminal portion of the consensus sequence is incomplete. The reconstructed consensus sequence encodes a 2064-aa RandI-2p protein (nucleotide pos. 2-6193) composed of the reverse transcriptase (aa pos. 90-350) and RNaseH (aa pos. 1570-1730) domains. The genome contains ~100 copies of RandI-2 that are ~1.5% divergent from the consensus sequence.
