Abstract: TE2-4_CR is a family of nonautonomous transposable elements. The consensus sequence is less than 5% divergent from TE2-4_CR copies. Classification of this family is not known. It is possible that it belongs to a novel superfamily. Features of this superfamily include preferential insertions into AAAC targets that are accompanied by the AAC target-site duplications, a 18-21-bp palindrome separated by 3-5 base pairs from the 3' end; and the AGCC 3' termini.
