Abstract: FUROUSHA1 and 2 are representatives of the Tol2-branch of hAT DNA transposons. The product of ORF 584-2056 is most similar to the human transposase-derived gene Tramp (47% over 398 AA). Copies are flanked by 8 bp target site duplications. On average, copies are 4.5% diverged from the consensus. Furousha is Japanese for vagabond/tramp.
